Explain the image of ' the engine' and she stokes it full.

Dear Student.

The poet compares the whole scene of the Laburnum tree with an engine because on the arrival of goldfinch, the tree is surrounded by many noises. The little one's of the goldfinch start making sounds and movements resembling to the noise of an engine. It looks as if the goldfinch itself has started the engine and is stroking it. The stroking here refers to the the act of feeding the offsprings and the tree being lighten up by the twittering of the goldfinch.

We hope that this answer helps you.
