explain the nature of school textbooks under colonial rule

The nature of school text books was in favour of French rule as School textbooks glorified French rule and justified its domination in the following manner:

a. The Vietnamese were represented and portrayed as primitive and backward, capable of manual labor and not of intellectual thinking.
b. They were called 'skilled copyists ' which meant that they could not rule themselves and were not creative
c. School children were told that only the French rule could ensure peace in Vietnam.
