explain three reasons as to why despite good rains we are not able to meet the demand for water of all the people in the country

The reasons as to why despite of  good rains we are not able to meet the demand for water of all the people in the country are as follows :

  • There is lack of rain water harvesting system in our country and hence most of the rain water goes waste without utilisation.
  • There is loss of vegetation because of deforestation so, there are no trees to hold the rain water and make it percolate soil and recharge ground water. Thus most of the rain water instead of percolating in ground is directed to the rivers.
  • The rivers are polluted by the industrial and domestic wastes, so the rise in their level because of rain water is not much useful. This water can not be used prior to any treatment.
  •  The rains are also unequal. Some parts of the country recive severe rainfalls resulting in flood. Where as others face draught.
