Elections are necessary in a democracy because-
1. In a large democracy, people from all over the country cannot sit together to take major decisions.
2. It is not necessary that everyone has enough time or knowledge to take decisions
3.Nor there is a place where everyone can sit and take decisions...
      So,
In a democracy ,people rule through their representatives i.e, the people who they elect and those people form the govt. and take major decisions for welfare of  the country.
