Let the third side of the isosceles triangle be x.

then 12 cm + 12 cm + x = 30 cm

⇒ x = 30 cm – 24 cm = 6 cm

Thus, third side of the triangle is 6 cm

also semi perimeter $= \frac{30}{2} cm = 15 cm$

$So, required area = \sqrt{15 cm (15 cm - 12 cm) (15 cm - 12 cm) (15 cm - 6 cm)} = \sqrt{15 \times 3 \times 3 \times 9 {cm}^{4}} = 9 \sqrt{15} {cm}^{2}$
