5 rational numbers between a and b are given by mid value:

1st number is $\frac{a + b}{2}$

2nd and 3rd numbers are $\frac{a + \frac{a + b}{2}}{2} a n d \frac{\frac{a + b}{2} + b}{2}$

similarly we can find the 4th and 5th number:

therefore rational numbers between -2 and -3 are

1st number = $\frac{- 2 - 3}{2} = \frac{- 5}{2} = - 2.5$

2nd number = $\frac{- 2 - 2.5}{2} = \frac{- 4.5}{2} = - 2.25$

3rd number = $\frac{- 2.5 - 3}{2} = \frac{- 5.5}{2} = - 2.75$

4th number = $\frac{- 2 - 2.25}{2} = \frac{- 4.25}{2} = - 2.125$

5th number = $\frac{- 2.75 - 3}{2} = \frac{- 5.75}{2} = - 2.875$
