first we have to put equal value of the denominator.  now we have to think that which number should be multiply by these rational number to equal the denominator. if we multiply 3 by 1/4 { 1x3 / 4 x3=3/12} and 4 by 2/3 {2x4 / 3x4 = 8 / 12 } then we get the denominator equal. and we should also found are four rational numbers. now look at this.... 

1 x 3 / 4 x 3 = 3 / 12

2 x 4 / 3 x 4 = 8 / 12

four rational numbers are 4 / 12 , 5 / 12 , 6 / 12 and 7 / 12.
