The mean of the series would be given by the formula

or = 24 / 6 = 4. Ans.

The standard deviation :-

Since its a continuous series so the formula used can be = = under root of 312 / 24 - (36/24)2 = root of 52 / 4 - (3/2)2

= under root of 52/4 - 9/4 = underroot of 53/4 =under root of 13.25.

At last by the long division method it comes out to be 3.6.

Therefore, the mean of the series comes out to be 4 and its standard deviation comes out to be 3.6.

We can also comclude fom these answers that the given data set is also very consistent as the values of their central tendencies are very closer.
