Find the coordinates of the point where the line through (3,-4,-5) and (2,-3,1) crosses the plane 2x + y + z = 7
Firstly equation of line passing through (3, –4, –5) and (2, –3, 1) is given by–
Coordinates of any general point on this line are given by–
Let P be the point of intersection of line and the plane.
So, for some value of λ, coordinates of P will be (–λ + 3, λ – 4, 6λ – 5) [∵ it lies on line]
Also this point lies on the plane, so it will satisfy the equation of plane
∴ The coordinates of point of intersection are (–2 + 3, 2 – 4, 6 × 2 – 5)
i.e. (1, –2, 7)
