Flowers are the reproductive organs of a plant. They facilitate the process of sexual reproduction in plants. Bisexual flowers contain Androecium as well as the Gynoecium whereas unisexual flowers contain either the Androecium or the Gynoecium. However, it is not possible for the plant to have flowers that lack both the Androecium and the Gynoecium.

Androecium is the male part of the flower. It consists of the stamen which has two parts : the anther and the filament.

Gynoecium is the female part of the flower. Its parts are: Stigma , style and Ovary.

Both androecium and gynoecium take part in the process of fertilization.
