Four visitors A,B,C and D arrived at a town which has 5 hotels . In how many ways can they disperse themselves among 6 hotels, if 4 hotels are used to accomodate them.

Here's the solution to your query :-

Total visitors = A B C D

Total Hotels = 1 2 3 4 5

Therefore , first visitor can go in any of the 5 hotels 

Now , second visitor is left with 4 hotels. Therefore he can go in any of the four hotels 

Again, third visitor is left with 3 hotels and therefore he can go in any of these 3

Finally the fourth visitor is left with only two choices and therefore he can go in any of these 2 hotels

And the answer becoms 5 * 4 * 3 * 2 = 240 ways

This is the answer.
