from a solid cylinder whose height is 12 cm and diameter 10cm ,a conical cavity of same height and same diameter is hollowed out .find the volume and total surface area of the remaining solid......plz help me...

use the formula given in book nd solve it hehehe :p

total surface area of solid = CSA of cylinder + CSA of cone + 1 base area

volume = volume of cylinder - vol of cone

hope it helps.thumbs up

thanx...

height of  cylinder (H) = 12cm

diameter of cylinder (D) = 10cm

radius of cylinder(R) = 5 cm

height of cone (h) = 12cm

radius of cylinder = 5cm

vol. of remaining solid = vol. of cylinder - vol. of cone

  = 22/7*5*5*12 - 1/3*22/7*5*5*12

  = 1-1/3

  = 3-1/3

  = 2/3 or 0.66 cm3

 l = 13cm

s.a. of remaining solid = C.S.A. of cylinder+C.S.A. of cone+ AREA OF BASE

  = 2*22/7*5*12 + 22/7*5*13 + 22/7*5*5

  =2640/7+1430/7+ 550/7

  = 4620/7

  = 660 cm2

 hope dis helpsssss

hey ritu just check your calculation .....for the volume of the remaining solid......your calculation is wrong.....

  • 11

why do we add area of base???????

  • -1

because the second base of the cylinder is not hollowed out.

  • -1
T.S.A of remaining solid = 660cm2. Use the formula and check whether u have got it right.
