From the given part of periodic table giving reasons, explain the following: (a) Element A is a non metal. (b) Element D is more electronegative than E. (c) Which type of ion, cation or anion will be formed by element C ?
Hi,
a) A is a non metal : In a periodic table, Group 15 lie at right hand side of the periodic table and when we move across left to right in a period metallic character decreases.
b) D is more electronegative than E : Down the group electronegativity decreases due to increase in size and decrease in nuclear effect down the group.
c) Anion formed by C is Cā2- .
