General question:

A certain 12 hour digital clock displays the hour and the minute of the day...Due to a defect in the clock whenever the digit 1 is supposed to be displayed it displays 7..What fraction of the day will the clock show the correct time? I'm getting the answer as 704/1440...( 1440 minutes in 24 hours)...but the answer was 720/1440..that is exactly half..how is it done then..?

Thanks in advance,,

The clock will show the incorrect time between 1 – 2, 10 – 11,  12 – 1 and 11 – 12 including both days and night so, incorrect time is shown for 8 × 60 = 480 times

For remaining 20 hour, it will show the incorrect time for 16 × 15 = 240 times.

So, fraction of day when the clock shows
