GIVE REASONS :1 Iron does not burn on heating but iron filings burnnvigorously when sprinkled in the flame of a burner

Any substance will burn only if it is heated beyond its ignition temperature. The size of iron metal is bigger than compared to iron filings so the fire can only heat the big iron  and make it red hot but in case of filings they are so small that the whole particle can be easily heated upto its ignition temperature and burn. Also the surface area of iron fillings is more, hence they burn vigorously in flame.
