Gulliver's Travels was a book of great concern in the past and still is in the present century. At first glance, it appears to be an exotic and adventurous journey full of mystery and suspense. The book exemplifies the creative imagination of Swift: how he has extravagantly and magnificently divided it into the four voyages. In each of these voyages, Gulliver meets strange creatures in places that are almost the opposite to the human world. Gulliver appears to be observant and participant in Part 1 and 2, and in Part 3 and 4, he condemns humans for their vices and inquisitiveness. Through the book, Swift tries to highlight a few themes such as human nature, in which he describes man in his pettines as well as in his magnanimity. This book also raises questions in the reader's mind: What is a good and corrupt free government? What is true nobility? and What are the values and limits of reason? These questions hold good in all times and places alike.
