Growth is the manifestation of various metabolic activities resulting in a permanent, irreversible change that is accompanied by an increase in dry weight of an organism. So, growth indicates increase in dry mass or number of cell. Growth does not always determine increase in height of the organism. Growth in height stops after certain period of time and is regulated by release of growth hormone. Growth in height is mostly genetic and is also governed by environmental condition, physical activities and nutrition.
