Here is a sample question taken from study material in meritnation: I know that you want to sleep. (Find the main clause)
The answer given was: I know. (Main Clause)
That you want to sleep (Dependent Clause)

But can't the answer also be: I know that. (Dependent Clause)
You want to sleep (Main Clause)
Please give your opinion and where I've gone wrong.

Please, give me as soon as possible (my exam is tommorow)

Thnx alot- a thumbs up for your answers

Dear Student,

It is to be noted that a dependent marker word (i.e. 'that') must be added to the 'beginning' of an independent clause that makes it into a dependent clause. And therefore, in the given sentence, 'that you want to sleep' is the dependent clause.

Hope it helped!
