Ho chi minh and communists took power in north while bao dai's regime was to put power in south..... Explain this statement in simple language pls

The following points may help you to understand the above mentioned statement:

a. The French tried to maintain strong control over all its colonies till about Second World war, however, it was weakened and incurred losses after the war.
b. In 1940, Japan occupied Vietnam as a part of its imperial drive to control South-East Asia. So the nationalists  under the leadership of Ho Chi Minh had to fight against the Japanese and the French.
c.  The League for the Independence of fought against the Japanese occupation. Ho-Chi-Minh recaptured Hanoi in September 1945. The Democratic Republic of Vietnam was formed and  Ho-Chi Minh became the Chairman.
d. In the year 1945, French tried to restore colonial rule, which Vietnamese retaliated using Guerilla tactic resulting in First Indo china war.
e. Thereafter, 
The French tried to regain control by using the emperor, Bao Dai, they were however defeated after 8 years of battle in 1954
f. . This was followed by Peace negotiations in Geneva.
g. Vietnamese were persuaded to accept the division of the country with Ho Chi Minh taking control of the communist bloc in the North and Bao Dai taking control of South.
h. The French Indo China was also dissolved under Geneva negotiations, formally ending French rule in Vietnam.
