Poverty can be reduced by:
  • Encouragement of economic growth
  • Targeted anti-poverty solutions
The Government of India has aggressively pursued both these two solutions over the decades.
From the eighties, India has recorded one of the fastest economic growth in the world.
The higher growth rates have helped considerably in the decrease of poverty.
 
 
Poverty in India can be checked by:
  • Encouraging small family numbers
  • Better Public Distribution System
  • Ensuring job to at least one member of each BPL family
  • Better educational and vocational training facilities that paves the way for skilled work force translating into better earning capabilities of the poor
