How did Huygen ‘explain’ the absence of the backwave?​

When Light incident then Light spreads in all direction but we consider only those which are forward direction because they show the position of new wavefront at particular time.

The amplitude of secondary wavelet is given by 1+cosx
there x is the angle between ray of pt of consideration and direction of secondary wave
then x = pie
then amplitude  = 0.
so it can't move backward
