How did pluto become a dwarf planet?

A dwarf planet is the planet that revolves around Sun like other planets but is very small in size. These planets are too small to remove other objects from their orbit. Since size of Pluto is very small as compared to other planets and it cannot clear the neighbourhood around its orbit, it is considered as dwarf planet.
