how did the competition in the school bring out the better side of Wanda's life ?

Wanda always talked about her hundred dresses but no one in the class believed her as she was always shabbily dressed. Her classmates made fun of her. But the competition of drawing dresses in the school changed Wanda's life. Everybody realised her worth as an artist and Peggy and Maddie too changed their way and never teased anyone again.
