how did the little kitty get its name

The kitten was named as Mahendravarman pallava poonai because Ravi felt that it was a descendant of the emblem of Pallava kings as its fur looked like a lion's mane. It was of the same family as Mahabalipuram's 'Rishi-cat'. A cat of the Egyptian family had come to Mahabalipuram in a ship and the Pallava cat was its descendant.
