how do i get the median if the no. of observations are even.

Take an example of following data:

25, 34, 31, 23, 22, 26, 35, 28, 20, 32

we have to find median of given data.

Arrange the data in ascending order, we get 20, 22, 23, 25, 26, 28, 31, 32, 34, 35

Here, the number of observation, n = 10 (even)

Hence, median is 27 of given data.

example numbers 123456 are there .if we need to find the median of the no. of observations which are even ,add the middle numbers ad then divide by two-2.the median is now 7 by 2 for the numbers 123456.........!

the formulla if n is no of observations is: the mean of n/2th term and (n/2)+1th  term.

for eg : 1,2,3,4

the mean is (2+3)/2

=2.5     hope this helps

When the number of observations given are even then we have to arrange the observations in ascending or descending order and do the same steps as we did when we had odd number of observations till we get two observations remaining. We must then find the mean (average) of those two numbers. The number that we obtain from following the steps is the median of the observations given.

Hope this helps!

PS- If it does, then please do vote for me! :)
