HOW DO PEOPLE KNOW WHAT TO EAT AND WHAT NOT TO EAT BECAUSE IT MIGHT HAVE ANY POISON?

Dear student,
The lifespan of an individual depends on several factors like healthcare, diet, ecological conditions, etc. In ancient times, people did not have much knowledge of what to eat. But they used to live in forests and had access to almost all natural things around them like fresh fruits, animals which were all a very good source of nutrition. Also, the environment in which they were living was pure and fresh. Sometimes, the people made use of their senses, like whether the food is smelling good or how it tastes. They used to experiment the food with other animals so that they could understand whether the food has any poisonous effect or not.  All this made the people realize what to eat and how to eat because it might have any poison.
