How do we compare different countries on the basis of their development?
Dear Student
For comparing different countries on the basis of their development we use following norms:
1. Per capita income: :Per capita income of the country is used as parameter to differentiate countries. Countries with high per capita income are regarded as rich or developed countries ( Eg. United States) whereas countries with low per capita income are regarded as poor nations( Eg. India).
World Bank uses this criterion in classifying countries.
2.Other measures such as education, health, and standard of living are also used to compare different countries.Better education facility and literacy rate, better health infrastructure and health improvements and longer life span indicates the pace of development.
