how does a bicycle stop when its breaks are applied????

a bicycle stops when its breaks are applied because of the frictional force acting between the brakes of the bicycle and its tyres.

we are applying a force which opposes the motion of the body. this force is acting opposite to the direction of motion o f the body. when we apply the brake then there is a frictional force between the brake and the rim of the cycle. this force opposes the forward motion of the body and hence  bicycle stops.
