how does anoxia, asphyxia and hypercapnia differ from each other?

Dear student,

Asphyxia is a condition of oxygen deficiency leading to accumulation of carbon dioxide within our body. It can result into a state of unconsciousness or even death. Asphyxia may occur due to various reasons such as choking, drowning, electric shock etc.

Anoxia can be define as a condition occur due to the absence of oxygen supply to tissues. The concentration of oxygen is low in the blood and tissues of climbers or people living at high altitudes. This is because at high altitudes, the partial pressure of oxygen is less than that at ground level. Low blood oxygen causes climbers to become weak and prevents them from thinking clearly. These are symptoms of anoxia.

Hypercapnia is defined as an increase in the CO2 level of the blood.

Regards.
