HOW DOES BLOOD CIRCULATION OCCUR
Blood moves through the body in a kind of circle. This circular movement contributes to the name, "circulatory" system. The intricate network, made up of miles of arteries, veins and capillaries that carry nearly 5 liters of blood, is a simple way to move oxygen and nutrients around the body. The circulatory system is made up of three components working together: the heart (coronary circulation), the lungs (pulmonary circulation) and the blood vessels (systemic circulation). When a heart contracts and forces blood into the blood vessels, there is a certain path that the blood follows through the body. The blood moves through pulmonary circulation and then continues on through systemic circulation. Pulmonary and systemic are the two circuits in the two-circuit system of higher animals with closed circulatory systems.
