Blood donation mainly depends on the antigens present on the RBC membrane and the antibodies present in the plasma.
This is because if same antigens and antibodies are present this will lead to the antigen-antibody reaction and will cause serious illness to the individual.
So , it is a preliminary thing that the blood transfusion should be done with in the same blood group , if not with the universal blood donors ( O blood group ) to avoid serious reactions .
Thus Blood donation depends on the antigens and the antibodies respectively.
