The biological assimilation is the process by which food reaches every cell of the body. It involves two processes-
1.The absorption of vitamins, minerals etc from food within the gastrointestinal tract. This occurs with the help of an enzymes (chemical breakdown) or by churning of food (physical breakdown).
2.In the second step, chemical alteration of substances in the blood by liver or cell secretions. After this process absorbed food reaches the cells via liver.
