Interferons are proteins produced and released by the host cells in response to the entrance of pathogens like bacteria, virus, protozoa etc. inside the body. They help to trigger the immune response of the body to eradicate the pathogens. Presently scientists have established the fact the interferons can be used as a treatment of leukemia, lymphoma or even melanoma. the cancerous cells show active response for interferon.
