How is coughing blood different from cough followed by blood stain in sputum

Dear student, 

Coughing up blood or also refer as chronic haemoptysis is a symptom showing a serious problem within the airways or lungs. The amount of blood produce can vary as per the severity of the condition. This symptoms observed when condition become severe that is if a person is suffering from lung cancer that arise form cells lined the bronchi, Tuberculosis (TB) infection of the lung and acute bronchitis etc. While, cough followed by blood stain in sputum is refer as an Acute haemoptysis. Acute haemoptysis occurs when blood vessels within the airway or lungs weaken or break this can sometimes normally encountered if a person has throat infection.
