How is the monsoon season different from the retreating monsoon season?

 Monsoon Season Retreating Monsoon
a. They cause bulk of rainfall from south west monsoon, as these winds blow over warm oceans , they carry abundant moisture with them and causes rainfall in the sub continent. After September, the low pressure trough begins to get weaker and is replaced by high pressure.
b. June to September is the period associated with advancing monsoon. October to November is the period associated with retreating monsoon.
c. It is associated with the breaks in monsoon due to temperature variation and pressure gradient. Retreating monsoon is associated with the occurrence of cyclones originating from Andaman sea, causing cyclones in Bay of Bengal and rainfall in the eastern coast.
d. This monsoon is characterised by uncertainties, while it may cause heavy rainfall , floods in one part it may cause drought in another. The months of October to November are characterised by transition from hot rainy season to dry winter conditions.
