how many ATP's are produced in inner compartment and inner membrane of mitochondria from one molecule of first dicarboxylic acid of krebs cycle
1)1,8
2)1,11
3)2,12
4)1,6

Dear student.

The answer is 2. 1, 11.

There are four compartment present in mitochondria. These are: outer membrane, intermembrane space, inner membrane and matrix. All the enzymes of Kreb's cycle are present in the cytoplasm (matrix), except succinate dehydrogenase, which is located in inner mitochondrial membrane.

And first dicarboxylic acid of krebs cycle is alpha ketoglutaric acid.

As you can see, one molecule of alpha ketoglutaric acid produces 3 NADH, 2 FADH2 and 1 GTP.

Therefore the answer is 1 ATP from inner compartment and 11 ATP [3 NADH= 3 x 2.5 ATP = 8 ATP(approx)+2 FADH2= 2 x 1.5ATP =3 ATP, total= 11ATP]from inner membrane of mitochondria.

Regards.
