simple. Terrace farming are step-like features. These step-like are usually cut out of mountainous areas. Using these method, it prevents rain from washing away soil, hence preventing soil erosion.
Next, contour plowing. Contour farming/plowing is the practice of plowing a slope across in contours. These will prevent the rain water to slow down, therefore reducing soil erosion. :)

Terrance farming is a method of farming in which the steps are cut out on the slopes of mountains making terrace. Terrance farming is a good way to prevent soil erosion as it restrics the speed or continues flow of water from the top to bottom preventing the run off of topmost layer of soil

The major benifit,of course,is the conservation of soil and water.Terraces reduce both the amount and the velocity of water moving across the soil surface, which is generally reduces soil erosion. Terraces thus permits more intensive cropping than would otherwise be possible.

Soil erosion occurs when the water with high velocity runs down washing the soil. As many terrace or step like slopes are present in terrace farming it reduces the speed as well as the quantity of water moving over the soil surface as a result of which it checks soil erosion by preventing it.
