how to solve question no 5 of page 376 stat of class 11 explain in a easy way
In the said question we have been provided with the sum and sum of squares corresponding to length x (in cm) and weight y
(in gm) of 50 plant products and we have to find, out of length and weight which has more variance?
So, for doing it we will calculate coefficient of variation which is defined as:
Now, firstly we will find the coefficient of variation for length as:
Similarly, we will find coefficient of variation for weight and compare them. The quantity which has greater coefficient of variation will be more variable.
Therefore,
Now, coefficient of variation for weight (26.24) > coefficient of variation for length (6.13).
So, weight of the plant products will vary more as compared to that of their lengths.
Hope you get it!!
