How university comes under consonant sound

Hello Arul,

The following explanation might clear your doubt on how or why the word ‘university’ comes under the consonant sound:
‘University’ comes under consonant sound because although it begins with the letter U, its consonant sound is Y. Other examples of the same are ‘utensil’, etc.
This can be well explained in contrast with words which begin with the letter U and their vowel sound being U. Examples of such words are ‘umbrella’, ‘umpire’, etc.

Hope your doubt is cleared.
Best wishes!
