How were the tribal revolts of the northeast different from those in other parts of India?(6 points)

Tribal revolts in North east  Other parts of India
a. Most of the tribals in the north east region practised shifting cultivation. In other parts like Orissa, some groups like The Khonds of Orissa were hunters and gatherers. Some were also cattle herders like Gujjars of Punjab hills.
b. In an effort to have settled peasants for better cultivation , the British banned shifting cultivation, but this did not completely happen in the North esat, who protested against it. In many other parts British created categories of reserved protected forests, and prevented villagers entry into them.
c. People in north east rebelled to restore their traditional practise and establish control over their area of inhabitation. People rose against the British laws that deprived them of their traditional practises.
d. These revolts were also in favour of more autonomy. Such was not the case with these revolts.
e. These revolts continued for a longer period of time. They continued for a short period of time.
f. Due to the resistance , British agreed to allow villagers to practise jhum cultivation in some parts of forests. For example, Kukis revolt. These revolts however were not successful. Example , the revolt by bhils in Rajasthan.
