How will you separate benzene and toluene if their boiling point difference is less than 30 degree centigrade ? Define the principal behind this process.

Dear student
Please find the solution to the asked query:

If the difference in their temperatures is less than 30 degree centigrade, fractional distillation process is used in separation of a liquid mixture into fractions differing in boiling point .
Fractional distillation is the method of separation of two or more chemical components at their boiling point. In some cases, there can be just one component which has impurities in it. The liquid boils at its boiling point and the impurity is left behind. The mixture is heated as shown in the figure and the pure component is converted into vapour form at its boiling point. The vapour goes to Liebig’s condenser where they are condensed by the cool of running water and collected at the bottom in the collecting flask.

If the difference in their temperatures is less than 30 degree centigrade, fractional distillation process is used.separation of a liquid mixture into fractions differing in boiling point (and hence chemical composition) by means of distillation, typically using a fractionating column,is the definition of the above,

you can use fractional distillation method to remove them the liquid which have less boiling point will get first by this method and which has high boiling point will get after that
