If 2 is a zero of both the polynomial 3x^2+ax-14 and 2x^3+bx^2+x-2 then find the value of 2a and 2b

We have ,
p(x) = 3x² + ax -14
f(x) = 2x³+ bx² + x -2 .
2 is zero of both the polynomial .
Putting x = 2 in p(x)
=> 3(2)²+a(2)-14=0
=> 2a-2 = 0
=> a = 1
=> 2a = 2 ....(1)
Now , putting x = 2 on f(x)
=> 2(2)³+b(2)²+2-2 = 0
=> 16+4b = 0
=> b= -4
=> 2b = -8
Hence , 2a = 2 and 2b = -8 .
Hope , it helps ..!!

Hello Akshatha dear, as 2 is zero then it would make the polynomial 0 as we plug 2 for x
So let us plug and get the equation 12 + 2a - 14 = 0 ===> 2a = 2 ==> a = 1
Same way as we plug in the second polynomial we have 16 + 4b +2 - 2= 0
So 4b = - 16
Or b = -4
Hence value of 2a = 2 and 2b = -8
