if 3 charges each of 'q' coulombs are placed at x = 0,x=r,x=2r,find the net force on each charge.

if 3 charges each of 'q ' coulombs are placed at x = 0,x=r,x=2r,find the net force on each charge.

As the coulomb force between two charge particles q1 and q2 can be given as, F = k q1 q2/r2  --------------(1)

where k is the constant and r be the distance between the particles.

For first charge:

It will be under the influence of other two charges q2 and q3:

F1 = kq2/x2 + kq2/(2x)2

Same concept will be applicable for the Third charge.

For Second charge, it will be under the influence of charge first and charge third and the effect by each of them is equal and in the opposite direction which will nullify each other's effect, so net force on the second charge will be: F2 = 0
