If a beam consisting of α,β,γ radiations is passed through an electric field perpendicular to the beam , the deflections suffered by the components , in decreasing order , are

a. α,β,γ

b. α,γ,β

c. β,α,γ

d. β,γ,α

Please explain briefly

We know,

γ is charge-less, so, no deflection for it.

α has charge +e and β has charge e. Mass of α is very large compared to β.

So, the force that will deflect the charged particles will deflect the charge particle with least mass the most.

Hence, β has maximum deflection, α has some deflection and γ has no deflection.

So, β > α > γ

Correct option is (c).
