If a mother do not lactate milk after birth . What could be the reasons for this and what will be the effect on child in later life?

Dear student,
Please find below the solution to the asked query

Some mothers do not lactate after birth. There are various factors that affect milk production. Some of these are:
  • Insufficient milk-making ducts in mother.
  • Hormonal imbalance-natural or induced by consumption of hormonal birth control.
  • History of breast surgery.
  • Medications given at time of birth.
Lactation is the secretion of milk from the mammary glands. It is important for child to have his mother's milk because it contains all the essential nutrients along with the disease-fighting substances (Antibodies) required after first six months of birth. Nutritional requirement of the baby is not fulfilled by some other supplements in the same way as by mother's milk.
As a result of this, baby may develop a weak immune system.
