If in area more co2 is present in the surrounding, like the plants in cities present in huge traffic then wil they show the process of photorespiration? Why /why not? Give suitable reasons with proper explanation (5 marks)

Dear student,
Plants present in cities with more carbon dioxide in the surroundings also shows photorespiration but the rate of photorespiration decreases because the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is high and the concentration of oxygen is low which reduces photorespiration. Photorespiration reduces the rate of photosynthesis because the affinity of Rubisco is more for oxygen than carbon dioxide. When carbon dioxide is more in the surrounding then photosynthesis will occur but due to absence of oxygen Rubisco can not combine with oxygen resulting in reduced photorespiration.
