imagine that Griffin has been caught by the police and is produced in court he needs to defend himself and prove that he is not guilty of the charges and Griffin prepare a statement that you would use in the country prove your Innocence. you may behave like this I plead not guilty I have been accused of... However..

Dear Student,

This question is aimed at getting the students to use their imagination and creativity. There is no wrong answer to this question as long as you take reference from the plot of the story and twist the scenes to provide justifications for Griffin's actions. Here are some thought processes you can take inspiration from to plan your answer:
  • Emphasise the fact that Griffin wanted to be left alone, but the landlady and her husband were too nosy
  • They trespassed into his room and he injured them in self-defence
  • There is no evidence that he stole the reverend's money; it was all speculation
  • The officer didn't even try to hear his side of the story and wanted to arrest him and be done with it
  • You can also bring up issues of morality and plead for the judge's mercy and the jury's understanding

Regards!
