importance of studying poverty

There exists a large number of people who are not able to fulfil the basic requirements of life such as food, clothing, housing etc. A study of poverty in terms of categories of poor, concept of poverty line, causes of poverty etc. one can analyse the exact situation and the extent of poverty. This helps in formulation of appropriate poverty alleviation programmes by the government and rectify the situation. A proper study of poverty helps in clearly identifying the target group and thereby, helps in proper implementation of the programmes and policies.
