In a population per capita birth rate is 0.15 and per capita death rate is 0.08 during a unit time period What is the value of r ( rate of natural increase ) for the given population? Ans is 0.07....Please explain how?

Dear student,

In a population of size N, the per capita birth rates are represented as b and per capita death rates are represented as d, here r is called as ''intrinsic rate of natural increase".
so, (b-d) = r
i.e., (0.15-0.08) = 0.07.
This explains one of the growth model which describes the exponential or geometric growth pattern of a population.

Regards.
