In an atom, the protons are positively charged and the electrons are negatively charged and are present in the orbits.Protons and electrons have opposite charges, then why the do not repel?

Protons are positively charged and they are present inside the nucleus and electrons are oppositely charged and they are present outside the nucleus moving in the orbits. Always opposite charges attract each other and they wont repel. Even on attraction the electrons are circulating around the nucleus which can be explained by the centrifugal force is balanced by the centripetal force.
